CMC Energy Services
Founded in 1977, CMC is a leading pioneer in residential energy services nationwide. CMC combines program design with implementation and innovation with prudent business practices. Under the continued leadership of Doris Iklé, CMC has helped 300,000 residential and commercial customers reduce their energy bills 15-30 percent. The company is headquartered in Maryland, with additional offices in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
CMC History:
CMC was born and bred with the 1977 Energy Policy Act that required utilities to provide energy audits to their customers. Our first product was a do-it-yourself slide-chart calculator that enabled over 200,000 residents to audit their own homes. It was by far the least expensive (10 cents a piece) and most effective educational energy auditing tool. CMC also offered a professional version for utility auditors which, in turn, led to CMC becoming a leading provider of trained energy auditors to utilities. Subsequently, when government programs expanded to small commercial establishments, CMC was the first to develop the software and manpower needed by the utilities. CMC successfully provided small commercial audits for almost all New Jersey utilities. CMC has provided energy audits, inspections, and support activities to major utilities for the past 28 years. CMC also administered a number of very successful low income programs for utilities in Pennsylvania, Washington DC, and Maryland.
CMC Now:
CMC’s new residential energy audit program, Home Energy Tune-uP®, brings today’s energy technology to yesteryear’s homes, paid for by tomorrow’s energy savings. The program was designed to help homeowners and homebuyers improve the energy efficiency of their homes. The comprehensive Tune-uP report identifies energy-efficiency upgrades, estimates their costs and savings, and shows the group of improvements that everyone can afford because the energy savings exceed the costs. CMC has trained more than 1,000 energy inspectors nationwide.
CMC’s Goal:
Energy efficiency for existing homes that is practical and possible, now.
