How The Home Energy Tune-uP® Program Works
1.Take a class Home Energy Tune-uP® classes are offered throughout the country. Please check our course listings by clicking on the TRAINING tab. At this time, we do not offer on-line or distance learning but we do plan on making these options available in the future. Our training format is as follows:
Day 1: Classroom training - 8-hour class with continuing education credits available ( 6 CEUs with ASHI / 8 CEUs with NAHI / 8 CEUs with TAREI / 8 CECs with CREIA / 6 hours with FABI / 8 credits with NACHI).
Day 2: On-site component (optional) – 4-hour on-site in-field hands-on training to apply what you learned the day before to an actual energy audit on a residence. Please check each class listing as this 2nd day is not always offered as part of the training.
No special tools are required but in order to become a trained energy inspector you must be a qualified home inspector or have a technical background in building/home construction technology.
If you take our course for continuing education credits only, none of the following requirements apply to you. Check this website for class costs.
2. Complete Your Practice Audits Upon completing your training course, CMC suggests that you complete 2 FREE practice audits. These practice audits can be performed on your own home, or perhaps the home of a friend or relative. Once entered into the Tune-uP software, a member of our staff will review the audits and notify you of your successful completion of our training program.
3. Use The Home Tune-uP Software to Do Energy Audits Upon successful completion of your 2 practice energy audits you are ready to offer this beneficial service to your clients. Every time you perform a Tune-uP and enter it into our web-interactive Home Tune-uP Software, you will pay a fee. This fee is a flat $20, per audit. In turn, you can charge your client whatever equitable fee you decide. The client will pay you for the service. The energy report is generated as soon as you have completed entering the data so there is no delay or waiting for the results.
As an certified Home Energy Tune-uP® inspector, CMC Energy will list you and your company on our popular Customer website.
4. Home Energy Tune-uP® Certified User Steps CMC Energy Services will certify an inspector when: The Inspector account setup process has been completed online with CMC. The 2 practice audits have been performed and entered into the Home Tune-uP software.
Upon these steps, CMC will: List you as an certified user on our web site listing at www.hometuneup.com/how.asp Energy Inspector Refer any inquiries we get for inspectors in your area directly to you Include you in any advertising campaigns done in your area by CMC
